Monthly overview holidays and driving bans May 2017

To avoid stagnation, the ‘holidays/bans month view May 2017’ is very useful. A public holiday by the way doesn’t mean there is a driving ban.

This checklist keeps you on the right track, but is not all-enfolding. Night Driving bans and bans on driving in and around major cities, for instance, are not included. For that matter use the country documentation. For other exceptions, such as exceptional transport and the weight classes from which there is a driving ban, we advise you to use the country documentation too. Because each country has its own rules. But all in all this month view is very complete. Under N.B. you find the exceptions applying for different countries. We can recommend taking a good look at it before you leave. Because foresight is the essence of government.

AEO Logo 2V.V.T. Europa has been granted AEO-S status by the Dutch Customs after rigorous audits into security and safety standards. Enterprises involved in international trade that are awarded with this status are regarded as trustworthy parties by many international Customs authorities and are granted a number of varying benefits and facilities.

What is AEO and why does it matter?
The AEO-permit is granted to enterprises involved in international trade by Customs authorities that deem them to be trustworthy international trade companies. V.V.T. Europa has been deemed one of them. This means we are given a special status that offers a number of benefits such as less strict border inspections which makes for faster, simpler and more efficient transportation. The permit holders are also given exemption of certain customs taxes and fees. The added efficiency and exemptions allow us to reduce expenses and increase delivery speed for our clients.

What we had to do
V.V.T Europa has been audited on a number of varying subjects, including financial solvency of the company, correct record keeping according to procedures and regulations set by Customs to facilitate easy inspections, prior and current compliance to customs and taxation rules and legislation and absence of prior criminal offences. Authorised Economic Operators are becoming the benchmark of trustworthy transport and show that your processes are of the highest standards.  We are proud to say that we have passed the tests. The combination of our TAPA EMEA TRS 1 & 2, plus our newly acquired AEO-certification shows we take great care.

Change of procedures
With our new AEO-permit for safety and security, the risk score used by Customs to determine how frequent inspections of cargo are done will be lowered, decreasing the amount of hassle when going through customs. When checks must be done, holders of the permit are given priority, speeding up the process. Certain administrative procedures may also be disregarded by permit holders. In conclusion, we are now proudly able to say that V.V.T. Europa is recognised as a trustworthy partner and certified with both AEO & TAPA EMEA TRS 1 & 2. We look forward to showing our existing and potential clients why we are considered to be top-notch.

Monthly overview holidays and driving bans November 2016

To avoid stagnation, the ‘holidays/bans month view November 2016’ is very useful.

Paperless Container Terminals

Container terminals are increasingly opting for the digital highway
More and more container terminals, like Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) and APM Terminal MVII, are asking customs documents for import, export and transit to be logged electronically. In fact, it has been mandatory to digitally register customs documents at Maasvlakte 2 since 1 November, 2014. Both RWG and APM Terminals MVII will no longer be using a terminal desk. It is thus physically impossible to submit paper-based export documents. And Maasvlakte 1 is expected to soon follow in the footsteps of Maasvlakte 2 by introducing this new approach.

At V.V.T. Europa, our aim is for our organisation to be paperless. This not only reduces costs and boosts productivity, it also saves space, makes it easier to share documentation and information, keeps personal information more secure and – most importantly – helps the environment. Especially because communications made to parties outside of our organisation are paperless as well.

Monthly overview holidays and driving bans March 2016

To avoid stagnation, the ‘holidays/bans month view March 2016’ is very useful.

VVT Euro 6 trucks

Janet Vermeulen, general manager at V.V.T. Europa:

"Since January 2016 our complete fleet consists of Euro 6 trucks, that are up to 90% cleaner"

CO2 reduction is a very important issue. One of the outcomes of the Earth Summit in Paris is greenhouse gas emissions in 2020 should be 40 % lower than it is today. V.V.T. Europa is committed to reducing emissions and limiting waste. Janet Vermeulen: “We take the environment very seriously. V.V.T. Europa invested in trucks driving on gas, a very clean fuel. And in January 2016 we replaced all our Euro 5 trucks for Euro 6 trucks. These Euro 6 trucks are up to 90% cleaner.” This is confirmed by TNO Tests commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. Compared to older trucks the difference is even greater.
